Childe Byron

While in New York recording a musical version of HG Wells “War of The Worlds”, David saw the play “Childe Byron” about the life of Lord Byron. He worked with director Frank Dunlop on a hugely successful run at The Young Vic in which he played the title role.

I first saw the play “Childe Byron” in Greenwich Village, New York. I thought it was a powerful piece and brought it back to England. Playing the poet Byron, who was such a colourful character was both interesting and fulfilling as was working with Sarah Kestelman and director Frank Dunlop. The Young Vic was a happy time, I remember Richard Burton coming to see the play and leading a standing ovation.
